Cream throw softens the checks
A plain cream cushion and a cream throw at the foot soften the small checks, so the bed feels layered without extra pattern.
Stored at the end of winter
It folded away at the end of winter and came out fine, though the gauze holds a light crease if the stack is squashed.
My partner likes the taupe
My partner likes how muted the taupe checks look on the bed and he has stopped asking for plain bedding altogether.

Would like a bluer check
The gingham and the embroidery are exactly right, and the only thing I would add is a bluer check for our cooler-toned bedroom.
Insert goes in without trouble
The opening is wide enough to work the insert through and the corners stay filled, so the duvet keeps its shape under the gauze.
Light and breathable
The gauze is breathable on warm nights and warm enough with a heavier insert below, though on its own it is thin for winter.
Bought a second in the same colour
I ordered the same mushroom taupe set again for the spare room after a season with the first, since the tone suits both rooms.
