Double gauze cotton, softly crinkled surface, pale wood tones.
More crinkled in person
The gauze is more visibly crinkled on the bed than in the photographs, and the colour is a shade softer in daylight.
Softer and lighter than expected
I expected a plain cotton and the double gauze is much lighter and softer, closer to something worn for years.
Good on humid nights
It stayed comfortable through a humid spell and did not cling, and the gauze breathes well on the warmer nights too.
Fine unless you use a topper
It fits our mattress properly, though once we added a topper the fitted sheet began to lift slightly at two corners.
It makes a simply furnished bedroom feel relaxed without any decoration.
Insert stays in place
The cover holds the insert well and the corners stay filled, so the gauze falls in soft folds instead of pulling tight.
Check the pillow size
The duvet size worked well for us, though the pillowcases are generous and our standard pillows sit a little loose inside them.
Bought another colour
I ordered a second set in a lighter shade after a season with the first, and both work with the same pale wood furniture.
Edges are neatly finished
The seams are straight along the duvet and the pillowcases, and the gauze edge sits flat rather than fraying at the corners.
Woven cushion echoes it
A small woven cushion against the pillows echoes the cotton texture without competing, and it keeps the bed looking unforced.
Better with plain layers
It works best with plain bedding and simple shapes, though a patterned throw quickly competes with the gauze texture.
