Back out for the cooler months
It came out of the cupboard as the nights cooled and has stayed on since, and the cotton had not gone stiff in storage.
Contrast Ruffle Gingham Cotton Bedding Set

Description
Small checks and contrasting ruffles give this cotton bedding a playful but grounded character. The dark patterned face is framed by a lighter gathered edge, while a contrasting reverse appears when the duvet is folded back. These changes in pattern and tone add depth to the bed without needing lots of separate decorative layers or carefully arranged accessories.
Pair the checked bedding with one plain cushion and a simple wooden bedside table. A softly textured rug picks up its relaxed feel, while keeping nearby fabrics unpatterned allows the ruffled border and contrasting reverse to become the room’s main decorative details.
- Cotton fabric: A soft-looking cotton surface falls in relaxed folds, giving the patterned bedding an inviting and easygoing appearance.
- Fine gingham: Small repeated checks add subtle pattern across the main fabric, offering detail that becomes clearer when seen close up.
- Contrast ruffles: A lighter gathered border outlines the bedding and pillows, bringing movement and a gentle decorative finish to the checks.
- Contrasting reverse: A different tone on the underside creates another layer of interest when the duvet is turned back at the top.

Looks like the listing
The gingham is the same scale as the listing and the ruffle is a little lighter in tone in person, which softens the checks.
Better in the morning
It looks lovely in the morning in daylight, though with the lamp on in the evening the dark checks read quite heavy.
Sizing matched the guide
I used the size guide and the cover fitted our bed as the measurements suggested, with the pillows properly covered by the shams.
Cotton, small gingham, contrasting ruffle, contrasting reverse.
That lighter ruffle around the dark checks is what makes the bed feel finished.
Comfortable in most weather
It has been comfortable from spring through autumn, and with a heavier insert underneath in winter it still works on the bed.
Ordered the same again
I ordered the same set a second time for the spare room, since the contrasting reverse makes it work in a room with few accessories.
Would like a warmer colour
The set is exactly the look I wanted, and the only thing I would add is a warmer option alongside the dark patterned face.
The lighter ruffle edge makes the bed feel playful in the morning.
Softer and less formal than the checked cotton set it replaced.
My partner likes the checks
My partner usually prefers plain bedding and he gets on with this set, though he would have chosen a softer colour for the ruffle.
Fits our bed well
The fitted sheet covers our mattress properly and the duvet hangs evenly on both sides, so the contrasting reverse folds back neatly.
Soft cotton, crisp checks
The cotton feels soft and falls in relaxed folds, though the check print looks slightly crisper than the fabric itself feels.
Gift for my sister
I sent a set to my sister and she liked the checks, though she thought the contrasting ruffle was bolder than her own room.
Good with simple furniture
It sits well with a simple wooden bedside table and one plain cushion, and the softly textured rug nearby picks up its relaxed feel.
Plain blanket keeps it calm
A plain throw across the foot lets the ruffled border and the checked face do the work, so the bed stays easy to look at.
Duvet goes in easily
The opening is wide enough to work the insert through without a struggle, and the cover sits smoothly over the filling once closed.
