Held up after washing
It came through a cool wash without the butterflies lifting, and the velvet surface came up soft rather than patchy.

Description
Scattered butterfly motifs bring a delicate contrast to the smooth, plush surface of this velvet bedding. Tonal pillow borders frame the small details without making the bed feel busy, while the duvet catches light in soft folds. The result is a romantic look with enough simplicity to sit comfortably in a modern bedroom.
Style the dark shade with a pale linen cushion to bring the butterfly details forward. A smoked glass bedside lamp adds a subtle reflective surface beside the velvet; keep the remaining accessories simple so the bedding's texture and quiet pattern have room to show.
- Velvet texture: The polyester velvet surface gives the bedding a plush appearance, with changing light adding depth to its solid base color.
- Butterfly details: Small embroidered butterfly motifs are spaced across the duvet and pillows for a delicate, lightly patterned effect.
- Tonal borders: Coordinated pillowcase edges add a clear frame around the motif, keeping the arrangement defined without a bold contrasting trim.
- Soft drape: Gentle folds bring movement to the velvet surface and complement the small scale of the butterfly pattern.

Keep the room simple
Keeping the rest of the room simple lets the velvet texture and the butterflies do the work without anything competing.
Insert shifts slightly
The cover holds the insert well overall, though the velvet is smooth and the duvet drifts down a few inches over a night or two.
Keep the layering plain
A plain throw at the foot is all this needs, since the butterflies and the velvet texture are already the detail on the bed.
Better than our old set
I ordered the same size as our previous bedding and this one finally covers the mattress properly, where the old cover always slipped.
Better with pale linen
It looks best with pale linen cushions and a smoked glass lamp, though beside very pale furniture the dark velvet feels heavy.
Use the size guide
I checked the size guide before ordering and the cover fitted our bed exactly as the measurements suggested, with the shams covered.
Gift for a housewarming
I gave a set as a housewarming gift and it suited their dark-walled bedroom straight away, so it made a striking present.
The velvet is softer and the butterflies smaller than the preview suggested.
Embroidery sits evenly
Embroidery sits evenly across the duvet and the pillowcases, though on one sham a motif sits slightly closer to the border.
The corner of the room feels richer at night, though the dark velvet needs lamp light to look its best.
Kept to the main bedroom
It lives in our main bedroom, though with a dark shade it needs more light than our back room gets to show the butterflies.
The dark velvet with small butterflies is quieter than the photos suggest, though it marks when it is brushed.
Extra layer in a cold week
In the coldest week we tucked a wool blanket under the cover, and the velvet took the extra layer without the surface flattening.
Hang is a little short
It fits the mattress properly, though the duvet hangs slightly shorter at the sides than our last set, so the bed looks narrower.
Polyester velvet, scattered butterfly embroidery, tonal pillow borders.
Right with a medium insert
It sits nicely over a medium-weight insert and the cover holds the filling evenly, so the velvet falls in soft folds rather than bunching.
Wish for a smaller size
The set is beautiful and the embroidery is neatly done, and the only thing I would add is a smaller size for the single bed.
Pale cushion sets it off
A pale linen cushion against the pillows brings the butterfly details forward, and a plain runner across the foot keeps the velvet calm.
Best for the cooler months
It is lovely through autumn and winter, though in the warmest weeks we swap it out for a lighter cotton cover.
Plush but warm to touch
The velvet feels plush and smooth on the skin, though it is a warm fabric and takes a little getting used to in summer.
Looks like the listing
The butterflies are the same scale as the listing and the velvet is a shade deeper in person, which gives even more contrast.
My sister asked about it
My sister asked where the bedding was from when she stayed, and she has since ordered the same velvet set for her own bedroom.
Added a set for the guest room
We liked the first set enough to order another for the guest room, and the butterflies bring the dark velvet somewhere lighter to live.
